Canadian born ¾ chinese, ¼ Japanese, graduated from UBC with a bachelors degree majoring in English literature and intended minor in Asian studies.  I have taken 9 years of classical piano and 13 years of jazz saxophone.  I am fluent in English, Cantonese and conversational mandarin and Japanese.

My passion has always been art and music, and as soon as I developed a better understanding of what graphic design really was, the more I felt that it was a natural transition for me with my background, and an exciting career I wanted to pursue.

I felt it was necessary to educate myself in terms of what tools are being used today towards creative expression and effective visual communication.  In other words, I felt through popular culture that I had developed an understanding of what visual aesthetic appealed to my target demographic but needed the technical skills, background knowledge, and design vernacular to improve my approach.

Prior to entering the BCIT program, I had finished my bachelors degree majoring in English Literature. In my 4th year, I traveled abroad to Tokyo, Japan as an exchange student as well as a private English teacher.

I see myself working for a small graphic design firm in the near future, enabling myself to work my way up.  I also intend to free-lance and establish myself as a good graphic designer not only locally but internationally as well.

I have been described as slightly odd and mysterious.  The reason for that is that I often have a steady free flowing stream of thoughts and ideas running through my head at any given time, hindering speech, and causing me to appear zoned or spaced out.  My mind projects ideas, thoughts and images through my eyes onto a semi-transparent “canvas” or layer that usually precedes what I see in the physical environment around me.  For reasons such as this, I don’t drive that often.
